As part of the Plaza6G (Polo de Innovación y Experimentación 6G) and Plaza6G+ Next Generation EU projects, funded by the Spanish Government, CTTC is developing a state-of-the-art, general-purpose experiment-as-a-service infrastructure in advanced 5G, 6G, and future mobile networks. The Plaza6G initiative builds upon CTTC’s existing EXTREME testbed®, which is significantly enhanced with further automation and usability, new indoor and outdoor communication network infrastructure, including O-RAN, expanded testing capabilities, increased computational capacity, and the integration of vertical industry equipment, such as AR/VR/XR technologies. Plaza6G enables the integration and automation of stakeholder testing together with the 5G/6G experimentation infrastructure for end-to-end testing.
Conceived as an open innovation hub, Plaza6G aims to become a benchmark for experimentation in advanced 5G, 6G, and future network generations. It will provide industry and academic communities with a cutting-edge environment to test and develop new products and services that demand high-performance network capabilities, supporting a wide range of use cases.
