Satyendra Kumar Mishra (Gorakhpur, India) is currently working at CTTC as a Senior Researcher. His bachelor’s degree (2006) in Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, and a master’s degree in physics (2008) were obtained from Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University Gorakhpur, as well as a master’s in technology degree (2010) in Nanotechnology from Jamia Millia Islamia University. A Ph.D. degree in Physics was awarded to him by the Indian Institute of Technology in New Delhi, INDIA, in 2015. The topic of his doctoral dissertation was Studies on surface plasmon resonance-based fiber optic sensors using indium tin oxide. His MTech project was based on the study of metal oxide gas sensors at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) in Mumbai, India. He moved to City University in Hong Kong (Feb 2015-Oct 2016) as a Postdoc, where he studied long-period grating fibers and polymer waveguides-based chemicals and biosensors. After that, he joined A &M (Postdoc) and Baylor University (Visiting Scientist) (Nov 2016-May 2018) Texas, where he investigated nanostructured optical fibers and new materials for biosensing, fiber Raman, and their novel optical properties. Furthermore, he moved to ETS Montreal (Postdoc Research Associate) (June 2018 to June 2020) Canada where he researched the generation and application of OAM beams in specialty fibers. Afterwards, he worked at COPL Laval University (Research Professional) (July 2020 to July 2022), Quebec City, Canada, on OAM beam generation in specialty fibers and their applications in communications. Afterward, he moved to Denmark and worked on fiber optic sensors for CO2 gas detection at the Danish Technical University.
Currently, his research interests include quantum communication, quantum sensors, optical communication, vortex beam propagation, fiber and waveguide-based sensors, photodetector, and Meta surfaces. He has published 52 journals and 34 conference proceedings to date (Oct 2023). In addition, he serves as a lead guest editor for several journals.
