J.S. Velázquez-González obtained the B. Eng. degree in Comm. and Electronics (In Electronics) and the M. Sc. degree in Electronics Eng. (In Digital Image Processing) from Instituto Politécnico Nacional of México (IPN–ESIME Zac. and IPN–SEPI–ESIME Zac.) in 2008 and 2011, respectively. In March 2017, he obtained the Ph. D. degree (In Advanced Technology: Optical Fibre Sensors) from IPN-CIITEC. In June 2017 he started a postdoctoral position at Centro de Investigaciones en Óptica (CIO A.C.) in León, Guanajuato, México under the mentoring of Professor David Monzón-Hernández leader of the Optical Sensors and Microdevices Group (GSOM – CIO A.C.).
Since December 2020 he is a researcher at Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya (CTTC) in Castelldefels (Barcelona). His research activity is focused on the experimental investigation of advanced optical devices for sensing and light manipulation. These includes evanescent wave devices and metal-coated structures . The present research activity of Dr. Velázquez-González is focused on the development of a single or multi parameter sensing platform, and photonics devices based on Surface Plasmon Resonance for monitoring hazardous chemical compounds.
