Fernanda Bezerra received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Campina Grande (Brazil) in 2017 and 2020, respectively. From 2015 to 2020, she also worked in the Embedded Lab (Virtus) at UFCG as an R&D student, intern and engineer.

The research conducted as part of her master’s thesis led to the development of a framework that enables the simulation of IoT applications in an edge computing scenario, such as the monitoring of emergency vehicles. Before joining the CTTC, she worked at the Institute of Systems and Robotics (ISR-Coimbra) in Portugal from 2020 to 2021.

Currently, she is a Marie Sklodowska-Curie fellow ESR working on a European Training Network (ETN) project called Greenedge, which is part of the CTTC’s SAI group. The main goal of Greenedge is to promote, design and implement machine learning based computing systems for the mobile edge that are highly energy efficient.
In particular, her research goal is the design and implementation of semantics-aware algorithms and schemes for the optimization of the available communication, networking and computation resources, while meeting the requirements of future low latency services in a cost-effective and energy-efficient manner.
