Charalampos received the Ph.D. (Cum Laude) degree in Signal Theory and Communications from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) in 2018. He holds an Electrical and Computer Engineering degree (2011) and an M.Sc. degree in Wireless Systems (2014) from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), respectively. In 2014, he was the recipient of the ISSLS-2000 award by KTH-ICT School for his Master thesis. During the years 2013-2017, he held visiting researcher positions both in the Industry (Ericsson Eurolab and ABB Corporate Research) and Academia (KTH and Aalborg University).
In 2014, Charalampos joined the Machine-to-Machine Communications Department at the Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya (CTTC) as a research assistant and currently holds a researcher position (since 2017). During these years, Charalampos has been actively participating in several EC-funded projects (ADVANTAGE, 5GCAR, FIREMAN, INSPIRE-5Gplus and P2P-SMARTEST) as well as in the preparation of research proposals at European and National level. He is currently the National principal investigator in FIREMAN project, acting also as a technical work package and task leader. Charalampos maintains scientific collaborations with selected research groups at international level (Aalborg University, University of Oulu, NTUA, Lappeenranta University of Technology, etc.). He has also supervised a Master thesis and two visiting Ph.D. students. Charalampos is an IEEE member (since 2015) and a member of the European Proposals working group at CTTC. He has contributed to the definition of the CTTC Strategic & Functional Plan, and he has been involved in the recruitment process of new researchers at CTTC. Charalampos has served as a Technical Programme Committee member of various IEEE conferences (e.g., ICC 2017, SmartGridComm 2017, PIMRC 2017, ICC 2018, PIMRC 2020, PIMRC 2021) and acts as a regular reviewer of scientific articles (journals/conferences).
His research interests include the design and performance analysis of wireless systems and protocols (PHY/MAC) with applications to cyber-physical and networked control systems.
