Advances in artificial intelligence, 6G/5G networks and their application in media and connected and autonomous mobility
From March 3 to March 6, Barcelona will once again become the global epicenter of technology and innovation as it hosts the Mobile World Congress (MWC) at Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via venue. The Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya will proudly participate as an exhibitor, showcasing cutting-edge advancements in 5G, 6G, AI, and smart networks.
At its MWC booth, CTTC will present five groundbreaking demonstrations, including:
AI-Powered 6G Communications: a prototype live demonstration on how two terminals using a Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) scheme dynamically adjust their transmit signals in real-time to minimize mutual interference, showcasing AI-driven network optimization (developed within6G-AINA project).
Multi-object, multi-camera tracking for vehicular hazard detection: an edge computing service enabling connected vehicles and smart traffic lights equipped with AI-based agents to collaboratively detect objects on the road. By leveraging multiple cameras—including those positioned around corners—this solution significantly enhances road safety.
An immersive end-user VR experience with hand-tracking capabilities enabled by a novel open-source and standards-based Network-as-a-Service platform offering CAMARA Quality-on-Demand (QoD) for best-effort and premium cloud immersive services. The demo features an ETSI F5G-Advanced network leveraging ETSI ZSM management through ETSI TeraFlowSDN.
Reconfiguration of accelerated functions in edge infrastructure based on events detected by computer vision applications such as the number of detected faces, this demo dynamically scales and migrates functions. Power consumption and execution time are continuously monitored.
GenOnet, a generative open xG simulation approach based on a multi-agent Large Language Model and Network Simulator 3 (ns-3): The demo showcases how to effectively generate, debug, execute, and interpret simulated open 5G environments through ns-3 5G-LENA based on user queries formulated in natural language. Hence, it does not require to be a networking expert to interact with the platform.
Over the years, CTTC has established itself as a key player in AI-driven solutions for next-generation communication networks, enabling flexible resource management, network optimization, and faster deployment of vertical services in both 5G and 6G ecosystems. The showcased solutions span several verticals and have been developed through numerous Horizon Europe and national projects, as well as industry technology transfer contracts.
