Ricardo Martínez (SM’14) is a graduate and PhD in Telecommunications Engineering of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) in 2002 and 2007, respectively. As undergraduate researcher since March 2001 till November 2001 he was visiting Telecom Italia Lab (Turin, Italy) in the context of thr FP5 LION Project. In February 2002, he enrolled in the UPC GCO team participating in R&D EU-funded Project. In September 2002, he joined CTTC’s Optical Networking Area (ONA) being granted by both a pre-docotoral grant (FI) from the Government of Catalonia and from CTTC’s Pre-doctoral Fellowship program. Since 2013, he is Senior Researcher of the Communication Networks Division (CND) at CTTC.
His research interest areas include orchestration, (GMPLS/PCE and Software Defined Networking – SDN) control and service management architectures, protocols and traffic engineering mechanisms/solutions embracing heterogenous transport technologies (i.e., packet, optical) within diverse network segments such as edge, metro and core interconnecting distributed NFV infrastructures.
